about
A part of an unstaged musical by Lisa Boreish. The musical is called "Bring It Back" and focuses on a rock musician named Mirror who suddenly starts seeing visions from his previous life, where he was Jesus Christ – Joshua. Repeatedly seeing scenes of Calvary and crucifixion eventually drives him crazy, and he is diagnosed with schizophrenia.
This song, "The Last Supper," is the supposed opening track for Act II, which takes place in Judaea.
lyrics
It has become dark: time is late, around midnight. Mirror starts to «remember», and the public also can see his horrible dreams and beautiful pictures appearing in his mind: space changes, an unobtrusive plunge into antiquity and darkness.
Mirror (remembering scenes, drinking wine):
I keep in mind the last supper’s night:
I keep in mind the old house’s candlelight.
Horrible dreams came true, and then
I got to know: I was sold by my friend.
I know who he is.
I can believe in this.
He knows that I know (the picture changes and is now showing the space where apostles are having supper).
Apostles (except Judas):
Blood is wine,
Here’s the crime:
Judas:
I keep in mind the last night of this life:
In the darkness they saw how I lied,
The premonition came true and
I understood: I sold out my friend.
I know what they’ll do.
I know he knows too.
He knows that I know.
Apostles (except Judas):
He is forced,
That’s the worst
(from this moment Mirror changes to Joshua, who is very similar to Mirror the poet, but older and dressed in accordance with the circumstances of the scene, in Biblical style).
Joshua:
We need a cross:
My blood is yours.
